Betsy and I have never done much of a blog roll (hey, maybe that’s why we don’t have as much traffic–we don’t do all that link sharing/link farming that pumps up SEO*.) However, Betsy recently found this very cool blog: fiftyshift.com, and pointed me to it. I immediately lost about an hour reading articles on the site. Smart, insightful articles written by women our age. Then I realized that the site will republish articles from smaller blogs. I promptly sent the site’s founder my essay on breast cancer, and she published it! Hurray! If you have a few moments, please go check them out. You can support their cause if you click on a few Google ads.
*SEO: Search Engine Optimization. Translation: things that web sites do to attempt to make their site turn up higher in a list of search results.
This is a quick post devoted to sending grand kudos to a site I love. ThinkGeek.
Okay, you may not need a Screaming Flying Monkey or Plush Sushi. Maybe you’ve no urge to try Shower Shock: Caffeinated Soap to get your caffeine jones addressed as early as possible. They have cool gadgets, too. I ordered the NeverLate Executive Alarm Clock from them in a failed effort to get my kid up on time. The clock was too complex for my feeble brain, and I instantly lost the programming directions. Perhaps I should have considered The Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker instead.
In any case, even if I didn’t already love them for their witty product lines, inspired catalog copy, and hilarious direct mail campaigns, this page would make me a true fan.
It’s quite rare that I will state out-and-out love for a company. This one has a sense of humor and isn’t shy about it. Thank you, ThinkGeek, for making me laugh many a time.
