Today’s weight: Dunno. Heading home from the family reunion today. Yesterday, I had a bunless hamburger and two servings of bro-in-law Mark’s delicious pulled pork, but no White Devils, exactly one sip of Devil’s Lemonade, and no sweets. You want to kill your love of a chocolate fountain? Watch how much oil gets poured into it to make the chocolate flow. I took a long walk with two of my sisters and my brother and nearly passed out from the heat. How do people live in the South?
We head for home at 10:00 this morning. Tomorrow I’ll weigh in to see how I’m standing in The Trash-Talkin’ Race to the Bottom.
Today I am grateful for: 1) Fireworks. Mark put on a terrific show. 2) Sparklers. My sister Amy handed them out liberally. Firefly sticks! 3) Hanging out with my sibs, nieces, and nephews.
No gym today, so no gym monitor gleanings, but here’s some fun stuff:
* “It sure beats everyday living”: And yet I still do not want to be a speed hot dog eater.
* Bitch Lauren: Sent me this link, which looks fekkin’ DELICIOUS (the recipe, not the link. Links aren’t edible, silly).
* This is true: What “meow” means.
* Aw of the day: Yes, animals have souls. Thanks, Buzzfeed.
Where did this day go?!
I didn’t weigh this morning. Betsy survived the July 4th eating challenges better than I. However, I noted that after eating two chocolate chip cookies, spoon bread, and a few other nefarious things, I felt HORRIBLE. Today, for reals, I’m tackling: 30 days, no grains, no sugars, no booze, and only a glurp of 2% milk in my coffee on the dairy front. I’ve got my FitBit and it’s true: when it’s on, I find myself taking the long way round the sofa to my desk. I wonder if sanding a picnic table can be entered in calorie-burning activities?
I swear I meant to check in earlier, but on the second day of the staycation portion of my vacation, I have been bouncing around the house like a bit of a lunatic. Oh, look: Here is some clay to be made into beads! Oh, look: There’s the picnic table, wanting sanding and staining. And over there: a small freelance job that needs doing. So much to do, all of it fun. I wish I could do this every day for the rest of my life.
Today I’m grateful for 1) A kid-free fourth. I went to bed at 8, pulled a pillow over my head, and blissfully slept for 11 hours. Only one or two BOOMs interrupted me. 2) Weather that simply pulled me outside to work on the picnic table. 3) Finding a truly awesome local bead store. They will get my custom from now till the end of time for anything I have to actually look at before I buy.
Update: FitBit doesn’t have “Sanding a picnic table”, but they do have a whole category of home repair activities! I just logged an hour of “sanding floors with a power sander”, as it was the closed thing I could find. How exciting! I love web sites that recognize that ordinary activities have calorie-burning power.
