Milly vs Beyonce

by betsy on April 28, 2012 · 8 comments

Today’s weight:  Dunno. I’m blogging in bed, blowing off yoga so I can jump into editing.  Was this the best choice?  Hmmmm.

Today I am grateful for:  1) Byron Katie’s The Work.  Watch her videos on www.thework.com and grow. 2) A delivery from Amazon–books are the greatest gift.  3) Having my daughter call me and report “a thorn that turned out to be a rose.” The gift of perspective.

No gym today, so no gym monitor gleanings, but here’s some fun stuff:

*  Milly vs Beyonce:  Who’s winning the clash of the tiniest canine titans?

*  Splenda vs. Truvia:  The latest on-the-one-hand-on-the-other-hands re artificial sweeteners.

*  Who’s winning:  The war on childhood obesity? Not Team Broccoli.

*  10 things:  You didn’t sign up for, thanks to Buzzfeed.

*  Ooh of the day:  Check out these amazing driftwood sculptures of horses!

xxoo,

Betsy

Simple Saturday Ahead

No weight news to report, other than that in gearing up for the Primal Challenge, I’m attempting to get all food cravings out of the way, so last night I ate ice cream. Gee, I love ice cream. Good thing I didn’t eat the whole pint last night. There’s some left for today.

Today I’m grateful for: 1) A day ahead with a short to do list and a fun little craft project on deck; 2) The guys working in my yard right now, pulling weeds and removing some shrubs that were mistakes (Warning: don’t ever plant dwarf pampas grass OR California lilac. They both grow much faster than you’d imagine and make for a ton of maintenance work.) 3) Freelance job delivered, it won’t come back again until June.

xo

Today: 131.2 – down 0.6 and that was pre-race. Yea!

I finished – but it was brutal. Total of 6.3 miles: A 1.6 mile uphill to a cell phone tower, then back down the hill, then a flat 5K. I walked probably 80-90% of the uphill, it was pretty steep. The hardest part was the uphill and then the first mile of the 5K because there was no shade for that mile and it was hot! I was so happy when I reached the tower at the top – it was like being on drugs. :) My total time was 1:18:30 and I’m happy with that. Now off to a victory lunch!

Dory – I’m so glad you’re enjoying the body gallery site. Go for it and post a pic.

Betsy – I love Byron Katie. Her book seriously changed how I view so many things and helped me not get so stressed about what other’s do. Particularly about how it gets you nowhere being in other people’s business. It’s not easy though!

Gratitude:
- Finishing the race uninjured.
- BBQ at hubby’s work last night where employees were free to play music. Mark played his guitar and shocked the crap out of me because he sang – he hardly ever sings in front of people.
- Yes – finally going to “Hunger Games” this afternoon. About time!

Wow, Happy Dance for Melanie! Big congrats on finishing a bear of a race!

Woo-hoo! Sounds like you did a great job in the race! You deserve that victory lunch.

Also, “May the odds be EVER in your favor!” ;-)

Thanks you guys. Part of what kept me going on that hill was knowing I had to report in to you all and also knowing that I didn’t want to say that I cheesed out and didn’t finish. I could feel all of you pulling me along and it really helped.

Congrats, Melanie!

Go, Girl!!! Now find a hot tub and a glass of wine! You deserve it!

163.2, down .6.

Feeling a bit better today, thanks in large part to your support! I love the website that Melanie turned me onto. Maybe if I am brave, I’ll post a picture of myself to add to the gallery of pictures of normal women!

Gratitude:
- All the support from the wonderful, wise women at BYT. Thank so much for the encouragement, advice and perspective. You guys rock!
- A great night with my book group, during which I ate nothing (and it wasn’t even that hard).
- That Sarah has such a big heart. She is desperate to begin a fundraising project to help those in need.

150.2 and a hold. Well thank you salami for not sticking. Or was it the water flushing. Either way it is not up today.

Today I am going to sort and shift the crap in the gust room. I am 5 week and one day from Alix’s arrival and the guest room has pieces that need to be shifted to the family/unload somehow room. Plus four, yes four, big garbage bag full of shoes that will no longer fit do to one bunion.

I will be trying on each pair to be sure, but the few I tried already indicates that none of my classy black pumps will be pain free. Sigh, especially since I will need a pair for my sis’s wedding. Reality 5’2 and size 8 shoe. *:)
