Today’s weight: Dunno. I’m up before the birdies to jump a plane and begin my week-long meditation retreat. I have no idea whether I’ll be able to check in or not. No worries; Beloved BYT Co-founder and Chief Bitching Officer Janet Tingey is reporting for duty!
Today I am grateful for: 1) Janet, of course. Some of you have experienced her awesomeness up close and personal. The rest of you shall in the fullness of time. 2) Adventure. Glad my life is blessed with new experiences, even if half of ‘em end in face plants. 3) That it’s perceptibly lighter at 5:30 pm; the days are getting longer!
No gym today, so no gym monitor gleanings, but here’s some fun stuff:
* Who doesn’t love: A good chew toy?
* Let that be a lesson to you: Bart Simpson’s chalkboard scribbles.
* Delicious and calorie-free: Hyper-realistic paintings of food.
The Left Coast Checks In
Today’s weight: 178.5.
I feel a tad shy about covering for Betsy. Since I’ve been on leave from the site, I’ve been focused on recovering my health rather than weight loss. Turns out I scored (the irony here is hilarious) a rare hormone condition that leads to weight gain! I have adult-onset growth hormone deficiency. I’ve been on replacement therapy for close to 4 months now and am starting to feel a bit better. One fine day I’ll write an essay of the whatever about the experience, which is as filled with thrills and tears as a Speilberg movie.
For now, I’m going to see what it’s like to weigh and check in every day. So far, so good!
Reminder: I’m on the west coast, so the day’s starter post may not appear until about noon on the east coast (though I’ll attempt to get it up earlier.)
Today I’m grateful for: 1) dog love–the weight of a fuzzy head on my knee; 2) three yellow crocuses blooming in my garden–Spring WILL come!! and 3) a day off work.
xo

Hi Janet! So great to have you back. We missed you.
125.8 pounds today at 5:30am. Yippee!
Gratitude:
-Bethenny Ever After. It’s back! I have big respect for Bethenny Frankel.
-An almost ideal week of work. Normal schedule, normal hours. I could get used to this.
-Watching the squirrels outside my studio. When I pull up in the back lot there is at least one squirrel pulling food out of the dumpster. I saw one earlier this week with a whole donut in it’s mouth. Always makes me laugh to see what they are carrying out of there to munch on.
141.5 – down half a pound since yesterday, even with a 5:15 am weigh-in. I have a fancy party to go to in mid-March and I’d like to be back in the mid-130s by then. Knowing that I have to get dressed up for the party is helping me to stay on track.
Gratitude:
-A week with Janet – welcome back, you’ve been missed!
-Reports from Betsy about a week of meditation – I can’t imagine our fearless leader being quiet for a whole week!
-Coupon shopping – I love bargains.
150.8 well the crazy spike is gone, now to let the rest slid off.
Back to work on the walls. It’s starting to look like the never ending project. However we have agreed to get rid of the excess.
Jeff came to or marriage with a butt ugly, huge “Mediterranean” style (old heavy particle board) dresser. He only uses 3 of the 6 drawers, the rest are full of socks and underwear that should be tossed, but would “make a great rag”. (we will never run out of rags) Or there is the drawer with adapter plugs, empty cassette cases and whatnot. I am THANKFUL that he has finely realized has a (low level) hoarder. I realize that the “rags” may end up in a box in the garage, but that huge piece of furniture will be out of the house.
I will admit to my own thing, side tables and chairs. But mine are wood and I’m pretty sure I will be able to move them with ease. I’m actually looking forward to getting a little cash for some of it. (it’s the ton of fabric I’m embarrassed about)
182 today. This is the first week I’ve gained weight since joining the good ship bitch. *sigh* I am hoping for a better week this week. I think I may return to logging what I eat in my comments. That seemed to help me. Let’s see if it can get me back on track again.
Gratitude:
- A fun game of jenga with my darling Gracie
- Sarah’s pride in her performance at swim championships
- A writer acqaintance who might be turning into a friend
