Today’s weight: Dunno. Ken just served me coffee, scrambled eggs, onion naan, chicken tikka, and beef vindaloo in bed. I may stay here forever.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS: We’re starting a two-week no-wheat challenge on March 1st. Beloved BYT Blogger Kirsten turned me onto Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight, and Find Your Path Back to Health. I’m convinced we would get a lot out of giving this a go beyond the dangling promise of losing 10 pounds in 14 days. Check out the book reviews and let me know what you think!
Today I am grateful for: 1) Things lost and found. Got a heartbreaking email from my daughter about the loss of a cherished ring–quickly followed by an “I found it!’ email. Happy happy, joy joy! 2) A thought-provoking movie; we watched “Project Nim” last night, a documentary about the ill-starred experiment about teaching a chimp sign language–so much to ponder. 3) Anticipation; I fly out to my meditation retreat tomorrow. Can silence shut me up?
Today’s gym monitor gleanings:
* Set Tivos on stun: Tonight at 8:00 on the Cooking Channel is Mo Rocca’s special on the cooking secrets of America’s grandparents. Food can bind us together in beautiful ways.
* Hang tough on the weekend: With these Today Show lower-fat recipes.
* Ha of the day: First there was LFMAO. Then came Spandy Andy. Then best of all, “Girl Look at My Shlomo.”
* Wow of the day: This cat catches snow!
xxoo,
Betsy

181.4 – down .6 from yesterday. My eating has not been stellar these last few days. I am hoping for better this week.
Gratitude:
- Catching up with a beloved friend
- My sweet little Sarah showing off for her Pop Pop. It was lovely to see them both so joyful.
- An early bedtime, which I sorely needed.
142.0 – down 0.7 from yesterday. I think that’s still “travel weight” from 24 hours of flying and airport sitting. I hope the downward trend continues!
The no wheat challenge sounds great! Wheat products are a trigger for me so, most days, I do OK with avoiding them. I’ve found that I do better to keep wheat items out of the house because I am so tempted by them and have no portion control once I get started. I gained the weight I am currently trying to lose because I had bread, pasta, and cookies in the house over the holidays. Not only did I gain, but I felt terrible. I am so much better since I realized what was happening and ditched all the wheat stuff.
Gratitude:
-Sunny days
-Our cuddle dog
-Sleeping in
125.6 pounds today – the lowest I have been since last March. Hooray! Eliminating sugar has been the best thing I could have ever done. My marathon is 8 weeks away, and my goal of being 120 by race day is totally within my grasp! I won’t be partaking in the no-wheat challenge. I scarcely eat wheat in the first place, and in the second place, I need my carbs to help power me through my long runs, so some wheat is necessary. Doing 18 miles today – the complex carbs are essential so I don’t bonk while I’m out there.
Gratitude:
-There is a strong possibility that Ben will be able to switch to the second shift instead of the third shift. Which means he would work 2:00pm-10:30pm instead of 10:30pm-7:00am. Fingers & toes crossed! My man needs this so he can get back on a regular sleep schedule.
-Getting all my chores done yesterday so all I have to do today is run, do yoga & get a massage. Ahhhhhh…..! And….oooohhmmmmm.
-Did I mention I get a massage today? Extra gratitude for that. Many thanks for Nino, our amazing masseuse.
18 miles – WOW!! You are going to kill the marathon! Keep up the great work.
Susan, you’re AMAZING! Congrats on all the awesome marathon training–you’re inspiring me!
