Downton Abbey Paper Dolls!

Today’s weight:  Dunno.  It’s Saturday and  I’m still abed. Yesterday I brought out Ye Olde Costco Drum of Chocolate-Covered Raisins not once but twice for guests and didn’t feel remotely tempted, which still amazes me.  The no-sugar thing has really made a difference.  I’ll just keep it going, see what else develops.

Today I am grateful for:  1)  Preliminary word from my son that the second cortisone epidural may be working; he feels much less pain.  Yay!  2)  Making lunch plans for a dear friend who is never far from my thoughts but we somehow never talk as much as I’d like.  3)  A fabulous coaching session with a brilliant client.

No gym today, so no gym monitor gleanings, but here’s some fun stuff:

*  Piggyback on your habit loop:  Totally fascinating article from the NYTimes on how Target identifies buyers’ shopping habits–but it’s got bonus info on how to lose weight by identifying your own automatic habit loops (like eating that late-afternoon sweet treat) and changing them by identifying triggers and tacking a new habit onto an existing one. THIS IS SERIOUSLY IMPORTANT.

*  “Goat is the new steak”:  Buzzfeed has 10 meats that are better for you than steak.

*  In one easy click:  All of Joy “For the Love of God Feed Me a Sandwich” Bauer’s Today Show weight loss tips.

*  Yay of the day:  Downton Abbey paper dolls. Sybil’s comes with Female Empowerful Symbols!  And more DA crap from Etsy. I want the lapel pin that says “Keep Calm and Free Mr. Bates.”

* Aw of the day:  Cats caught in flurgrante. Inpurrgrante?

xxoo,

Betsy

Not sure on my weight. We brought our beloved kitty home from the hospital yesterday and are learning how to manage his diabetes and congestive heart failure. Right now it’s just wait and see. The vet says we will be lucky to have him for a year. There is no cure for his heart, just have to work on keeping fluid from building up in his lungs and giving him meds to allow his heart to pump easier. Poor baby, but he’s slowly coming back to life and is eating a lot better tonight. He might just surprise us all.

126.8 pounds today. Holding steady in the 126s. I’ll take it!

Gratitude:
-The forecast! The weather channel is calling for sunshine every single day this week. Finally. I see the Spring light at the end of the Winter tunnel.
-My new obsession: YOGA. Reading the book “Power Yoga” right now and loving yoga more & more each time I learn something new about it.
-My sleep deprived husband appears to be sleeping soundly today. A very quite “HOORAY!”. Poor fella is exhausted from working nights and going to school during the day. So super proud of him.

Not to toot my own horn, but I helped yoga goddess Ana Forrest with her book, “Fierce Medicine,” and I think it’s awesome!

142.7 – down from my last weight before the trip but did not meet my goal of getting below 140 while traveling. It probably was not a realistic goal but it did keep me from overeating.

Gratitude:
-Sleeping in my own bed
-Our dog who was so very happy to see us
-Very grateful for problem free travels!

Cindy, I bet your body is holding onto some water weight from all that travel–wait a few days! And welcome home!

I do seem to be “draining”. It’s good to be home!

Those kitties made me giggle.

Today’s weight – 182! Up 1.4 pounds of unbridled Chinese takeout. From now on, I am following Susan C’s lead about no food in TV room. Also, I think I ought to use chopsticks for Chinese/sushi. It takes much longer, and after a while I lose interest in the struggle.

Gratitude:

- An article coming together before deadline!
- The chance to read O magazine uninterrupted while my kids had swim practice
- Seeing a dear friend for the first time since surgery

Holy crap! Do not eat a whole package of nan before going to bed!! I’m not telling the number.

Lately for me it’s been late night snacking while I game. I have noted this, but last night just got redonckules.
I am going to use Miss eat a sandwich’s rule on no food in the TV room (my living room). This is a time of change, new carpet and all, so it’s a good time to do it.

At least I now know that bread is “high” in salt so most of this should wash away with todays water. Plus a whole day of wall washing.

I’m skimming “Wheat Belly” and we are DEFINITELY trying a two-week no-wheat challenge come March 1st. Fasten your seatbelt!

146.2 No loss but no gain. glass is half full. Day Two of No-Sugar Challenge. A Texas Cinnamon Roll called my name; I ate a piece of chicken. A Kit Kat bar got in my way; I fixed some steamed broccoli. Lemon drop cookies resulted in eating small salad. Keeping stuff ready in fridge helps. My stomach feels fine, my body feels great; my taste buds are FURIOUS! The taste buds just want the instant gratification of the moment of eating junk food and could care less how awful the rest of the body feels later. Taking my granddaughter down to San Francisco. I’ll be back on the computer on Tuesday. Taking healthy snacks to try to hold the line. Wish me luck pls!

Good luck. The taste buds should calm down by Day Four. Courage, woman, courage!
